Sheesh is an exploration into how material aesthetics & shape change can invite and inhibit certain interactions. Through various material & interaction explorations, a model of aesthetic qualities and aeshtetic behaviour was formulated, which was translated to a working prototype. I was responsible for leading the aesthetic explorations & formulating the model behaviour.

Designing shape change & haptics means engaging with people's pre-cognitive & bodily skills and in the case of Sheesh, towards a dialogue. This is a good thing, because screen-based interaction does not engage these capacities broadly, nor deeply, and give off the impression of one-way traffic (control). Where screens estrange the relation between body and environments, I see shape change & haptics means designers can explore to refamiliarize people with their bodies and in extension our living, physical environments. A refamiliarisation that is very needed, because I believe that experiencing the richness of our environment will help us become more caring for it.
